Level 1.5: Beginner/Intermediate Adult Tap
|
ABOUT THIS CLASS
BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE ADULT TAP is intended for students who have had a little exposure to basic tap vocabulary and have had minimal prior beginner tap experience. Previously learned technique may include: basic rudiments and articulation of toe digs and heel drops, shuffles, slaps, and flaps combined with basic weight shifts like ball change, hop, step, and leap. Students will hone rhythmic and musical sensibilities, increase vocabulary, and gain a stronger foundation of tap technique. New and more complex rudiments, music fundamentals, time steps, and riff and paddle and roll combinations will be explored. Beginner/Intermediate will continue to move at a slow to moderate pace, allowing more time for repetition and review of technical and rhythmic concepts, class exercises and combinations, and choreography. With a focus on anatomical efficiency in an effort to maximize balance and technical clarity, particular attention is devoted to proper alignment, initiation, and execution as the dancer develops solid timing, technique and precision. Students who enroll in this class will be given access to class videos for the purposes of practicing and reviewing material outside of class.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimal prior experience is required. If you have taken tap in the past, or have had fewer than six months of classes, this is the class for you. This is a high-energy class and an engaging workout for the mind and body! Please wear tap shoes and comfortable clothing for moving with ankle visibility.
